"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart."

Volunteer Opportunities
Events
Event volunteers represent SPAAR and educate the public about our mission, programs, and adoptable animals.
What qualifies you to be a good event volunteer? You should be personable and comfortable speaking with individuals and groups of people. Occasionally, event volunteers may be responsible for taking an adoptable or hospice animal to an event, so basic animal handling skills are helpful (but not required).
Event volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer on your own; any one under the age of 18 can volunteer with a parent or guardian present.
Development
Are you interested in helping SPAAR build important relationships through individual donations, sponsorships, fundraising campaigns, and grant proposals? Development volunteers do just that!
What qualifies you to be a good development volunteer? A working knowledge of or past experience in these areas is helpful (but not required).
Marketing & Public Relations
Do you love social media? Are you familiar with Photoshop or other related software? Have an interest in things like merchandise or photography? Are you interested in getting the word out about SPAAR or speaking with the media? If you said, "Yes!" to any of these questions, you may make a perfect marketing & PR volunteer for SPAAR.
What qualifies you to be a marketing volunteer? SPAAR is looking for individuals who understand the importance of varied marketing strategies. You should have at least basic graphic design skills or be comfortable reaching out to members of the media and pitching story ideas to them (with prior approval from a SPAAR representative). Current connections to media sources and news outlets are definitely helpful. We also like independent volunteers who can meet deadlines.
Community Outreach
Are you interested in helping people, as well as animals? Community outreach volunteers will educate the public about the importance of Ferdinand's Fund. Through these efforts, you will help us to improve senior pet retention in the community, keeping senior pets in their homes and with their families. Community outreach volunteers will work together with SPAAR representatives to distribute goods and services to people and pets in need. You will also occasionally help with donation drives associated with Ferdinand's Fund.
What qualifies you to be a good community outreach volunteer? SPAAR is looking for compassionate, empathetic, approachable individuals. You will also need to maintain an objective, caring attitude towards the disadvantaged in our community and their pets. Open minds and open hearts are the cornerstones to community outreach.
