GRIEF AND LOSS

“Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.”
                                                                                                                               - Vicki Harrison

The photos above are of co-founder Laura's former foster dog Ricardo (rescued through Biggies Bullies). Ricardo was adopted from his foster home and lovingly renamed Rocky. Less than a year later, he lost his battle with cancer in 2014. He was rescued at at the age of 12 from a shelter, and Rocky knew nothing but love for the last year of his life.

Sometimes sharing our sadness can help us grieve the loss of our loved ones. SPAAR will use this space to help ourselves and others remember and share the memories of beloved pets.
Email photos and stories to us at seniorpetandanimalrescue@gmail.com, and we will feature them on our website.

Are you interested in participating in a grief and loss group? Have you recently lost a pet, or are you mourning a beloved family member from years ago? Even if your pet is battling a terminal illness or is simply nearing the end of life, you may experience anticipatory grief. Please email us at seniorpetandanimalrescue@gmail.com if you are interested in participating ~ dates will be available soon.
