Hank, a Ferdinand's Fund recipient, is caught in one of his favorite pastimes, snoozing on the couch
Ferdinand's Fund has been busy in 2016! Thanks to our generous donors, we have been able to provide a total of $5,000 to 10 pet owners who needed assistance in caring for their animals. From a PNC Charitable Trust grant to individual fundraisers to wedding gifts to Ferdinand's birthday, our SPAAR family has allowed us to distribute the resources owners of senior pets need to keep them in their homes.

Here's a recap of the animals (and families) Ferdinand's Fund got to know this year:
  • Ollie, a senior cat with diabetes, needed surgery and radiation therapy for an aggressive, cancerous tumor
  • Coco, an elderly yet spunky senior pit bull with nerve degeneration in her hip, received antibiotics and ointment to help keep her comfortable
  • Moet, a beautiful senior Persian, was losing weight and needed expensive testing to determine the cause
  • Lady, a senior pit bull, required emergency pyometra spay surgery
  • Mavis, a lab retriever mix, was having trouble getting along with other family animals and benefited from our certified training team
  • "Patient X" was referred to us by one of our veterinary partners and needed bladder stones removed
  • Princess, like Lady, was a senior pit bull that made it through a delicate pyometra spay
  • Parents of a newly found pit bull needed help paying for vaccinations and neutering
  • Precious, a 13yo kitty, required a tumor on her larynx to be removed
  • Hank, a lovely lab, received an abdominal ultrasound to determine the cause of his weight loss
Take a look at the adorable faces of a few of these precious patients and know that contributions to Ferdinand's Fund help keep these animals happy, healthy, and at home with their families. Lady's mom said it best when she told us...

I was contacting you
to give you an update and to inform you that we just picked Lady up from her surgery. As soon as we seen her instantly we knew that she was feeling a million times better. She came out with her head up and tail wagging vigorously, an expression of a young dog we once missed.

We would also like to tell you thank you for everything you have done for us. Before you contacted us we were lost. We were watching our amazing pit bull fade right before our eyes. All the placed calls, and what seemed to be endless circles, left us feeling hopeless. But, we finally found the miracle we had been searching for, and
that miracle was you.
