Pittsburgh runner Pete D. is a senior animal owner and advocate. When we asked him why he chose to raise money for SPAAR through our marathon charity initiative, he said...
"Two years ago, a friend sent me a link to a senior dog that had spent a month in a rescue, because the owner had to be placed in a home. I went into it thinking at 15, I could handle a third dog for a few months. It became a learning experience on how hard it is for senior dogs in rescues. I found out right away that she had a severe heart murmur and horrible teeth, both of which are helped with medication. And she shows me every day how much life and love she still has in her. These animals deserve a comfortable life."
Thank you, Pete, for giving this girl a wonderful, comfortable life.
If you believe that senior animals are worth fighting (and running) for, donate to our marathon campaign today. We are working toward a $7,500 fundraising goal to save more senior animals.
